Other interests include 19th and 20th century history. Joyce is treasurer of Radley History Club.

Joyce is a member of the management committee for Radley Village Shop – a community co-operative.

Joyce's husband John is an independent energy policy consultant specialising in climate change agreements and industrial energy efficiency.
