John worked at Bletchley Park - building and maintaining the Colossus code breaking computers. Below is a picture of one being rebuilt - sadly the originals were all destroyed.

The picture below shows John in 2000 at Bletchley Park in front of a picture of a reunion in 1987, once the truth could be told.

This is a picture from July 2009 and shows John talking to the late Tony Sale who was a trustee of Bletchley Park and lead the project to rebuild a Colossus.  The recreated Colossus was working by then.
